What We Believe – God’s Plan Church

At God’s Plan Church, we joyfully follow Jesus Christ and embrace the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Reformed and Presbyterian tradition. Our beliefs are rooted in the Word of God and centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Below is a fuller statement of what we believe, with Scripture and the Westminster Confession of Faith as our foundation.

God
We believe there is one true and living God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, sovereign, and full of love. He created all things for His glory and rules over all creation with wisdom and grace.
Key Scriptures: Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Psalm 103:19
WCF References: Chapter 2 – Of God, and of the Holy Trinity

The Holy Bible
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are God’s inspired and infallible Word. The Bible is our ultimate authority for faith and life, teaching us who God is, what He has done, and how we are to live as His people.
Key Scriptures: 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Psalm 19:7–11; 2 Peter 1:20–21
WCF References: Chapter 1 – Of the Holy Scripture

Humanity and Sin
We believe that all people are created in the image of God with dignity and worth. However, through Adam’s sin, humanity fell into rebellion against God. Because of sin, we are separated from God and unable to save ourselves.
Key Scriptures: Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1–3
WCF References: Chapter 4 – Of Creation; Chapter 6 – Of the Fall of Man, of Sin, and of the Punishment Thereof

Jesus Christ and Salvation
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became fully man while remaining fully God. He lived a perfect life, died on the cross to pay for our sins, and rose bodily from the dead, securing salvation for all who believe in Him. We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone—not by our own works.
Key Scriptures: John 3:16; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:8–9; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4
WCF References: Chapter 8 – Of Christ the Mediator; Chapter 11 – Of Justification

The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit gives new life to sinners, unites believers to Christ, and dwells in us to transform us into His likeness. He empowers us to live holy lives, equips us with spiritual gifts, and builds up the church.
Key Scriptures: John 14:16–17; Romans 8:9–11; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22–23
WCF References: Chapter 9 – Of Free Will; Chapter 13 – Of Sanctification

The Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ, made up of all believers throughout the world. Locally, we gather for worship, prayer, teaching, fellowship, and mission. We celebrate baptism and the Lord’s Supper as signs of God’s covenant promises and means of grace.
Key Scriptures: Acts 2:42–47; 1 Corinthians 12:12–27; Matthew 28:19–20
WCF References: Chapter 25 – Of the Church; Chapter 27 – Of the Sacraments

Christian Living, Mission, and Social Responsibility
We believe God calls His people not only to personal holiness but also to love our neighbors and work for justice, peace, and compassion in society. The gospel compels us to defend the dignity of all people as image-bearers of God, care for the poor and marginalized, seek racial and ethnic reconciliation, oppose injustice and violence, and steward creation responsibly. While our ultimate hope is in Christ’s return, we are called to be salt and light in the world now.
Key Scriptures: Micah 6:8; Matthew 5:13–16; James 1:27; Amos 5:24; Romans 12:18
WCF References: Chapter 16 – Of Good Works; Chapter 19 – Of the Law of God; Chapter 21 – Of Religious Worship, and the Sabbath Day; Chapter 23 – Of the Civil Magistrate

Christ’s Return and Eternity
We believe Jesus Christ will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and make all things new. Those who trust in Christ will dwell with Him forever in joy and peace, while those who reject Him remain under God’s just judgment.
Key Scriptures: Revelation 21:1–5; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; John 14:1–3
